Dear Members and Friends:
I know, I know – I’m a little (well, ok, a lot) late (again) in getting the Newsletter out, but we do have lots of news to share! I honestly don’t know where the time goes – before I know it, POOF and another month is gone!
Happy Anniversary to the Belton Chamber of Commerce! According to the 100 Year Book by the Belton Historical Society (if you don’t have a copy, get yours for just $5 available at several locations on Main Street including the Museum), there are recollections of the Chamber as far back as the early 1930’s. The Belton Booster Club, a forerunner of the Chamber, was originally formed by Belton businessmen with Russell Turk as President. In 1945 the Booster Club changed its name to the Chamber of Commerce with G. G. Steinbrueck elected as president. In 2015 the Chamber celebrated 70 years with an open house and Dave Bowe was our President. The official Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of Missouri on August 9, 1963, with John Howard as President, marking a great milestone for us this year – our 55th Anniversary!
Thank you for helping make this such a fun and successful summer! I had a blast with all the different emojis (who knew there were sooooo many) but, its time to say goodbye.
We hope you were able to participate in some of the summer events – coffees, mixers, ribbon cuttings, luncheons or the steak fry. The KMBZ community spotlight at Brewbaker’s was so much fun and brought new visitors to Belton, our membership drive has been very successful (watch for an announcement soon with all of our new members), and the Stuff the Bus & Pack the Pantry campaign was absolutely amazing – 80 boxes of school supplies and $1,460 donated by the community for Belton students.
Not to worry, we have lots of great events planned for the rest of 2018 and a new season of fun already scheduled! Be sure to follow along and mark your calendar so you don’t miss out!
At the Belton School District home opener vs Ruskin, Dr.Doug Bradley was honored for his 35 years of support to Belton athletes. It was also Chamber Night at Southwick Stadium and for the second year we partnered with DECA. Through a 50/50 drawing and a lot of Pirate swag, we were able to raise $240!
Looking ahead, we have a great luncheon meeting planned for September 11 at Creekmoor Country Club. Our next free Business Outreach Class on Thursday, September 20 may be the best one yet! Immediately following it join us at an After Hours Mixer – you won’t want to miss either of these events which will be hosted by Loch Lloyd Country Club. The October 9 luncheon meeting is our annual speed networking. If you would like to be a presenter please let us know soon, these spots go fast! We are making plans now to host a Before the Ballot Candidate Forum on Wednesday, October 24 at Memorial Station. November 3 will be the annual Holiday Extravaganza at BHS, November 10 is the Turkey Bowl at Aaron’s Family Fun Center, and, of course there will be the usual coffees, CCCC meetings, ribbon cuttings and more. Watch for announcements soon for new members AT&T, Brite Car Wash, Furniture Deals and Cracker Barrel! See, I told you we had a full schedule ahead for you!
As we always say and sincerely mean, please feel free to stop by the Chamber office anytime and don’t hesitate to let us know how we can assist you make the most of your membership! Thanks!
