Dear Members and Friends:
Wow we were busy in June with so many great member events! Kicked it off with First Friday Coffee at Foxwood, our Business Outreach Class met at Wallace Park, had a community spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Main Street Fire Station for Downtown Belton Main Street, Inc., held a Ribbon Cutting with a grant donation of $500 for Main Street Theater, hosted the Cass County Coalition of Chambers luncheon meeting at Calvary University, and a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting for Panera Bread.  July and August look to be even busier, but, that’s the way uh huh uh huh I like it uh huh uh huh – I bet you just sang that in your head lol!

Only half way through our “We Love our Members”  membership drive and we have already added 5 new members! See their information below and be sure to say hello and welcome them to the Chamber!  And, if you know someone who isn’t a current member, please send them our way!  Myself, members of the Chamber Board and City Officials are boarding the official membership drive tour bus donated by Carnegie Village for 3 tour dates around our community meeting potential new members with some yummy treats donated by Hy-Vee.

We are continuing our annual Stuff the Bus & Pack the Pantry campaign benefiting Belton School District students.  You may bring your school supplies and non-perishable food items through August 3 to the Chamber office, Carnegie Village, Shoe Sensation or Hy-Vee.  We have a special luncheon meeting on Tuesday, July 10 at Hy-Vee where you can purchase your items, participate in a fun shopping game and enjoy a delicious lunch while we learn about the need for these donations in our school district.

Steaks, pig roast, drinks, dessert, live entertainment, prizes, selfie station, auctions, s’mores at the fire pit and a private pool party are all lined up for this fun night!!! Don’t miss out – RSVP to the Chamber office.

If you are a past Board Member we would especially love for you to attend this year’s steak fry celebration. August 9 marks the 55th anniversary of the Chamber’s incorporation, although, according to the Belton Historical Society’s Hundred Year Book, the Chamber was officially formed in 1945. Save the date – look for a big 75 year party in 2020!

June 1 – August 3
Dear Members and Friends:
Highlights from May:
Celebrated Small Business Week with new member Big Daddy’s Donuts; First Friday Coffee at Life Thyme Botanicals; Ribbon Cutting for Heart N Hand Thrift Store; Board Meeting; Membership Luncheon Meeting hosted by Belton School District; Golf Tournament at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd; Welcomed 4 New Members; and, I ended the month with a wonderful vacation in the Florida Keys with my family.  Now I’m rested and ready to tackle whatever comes next!
We are kicking off our annual Membership Drive which includes the Stuff the Bus and Pack the Pantry campaign benefitting Belton School District students.  Please bring your school supplies or non-perishable food items to the Chamber office, Carnegie Village or Hy-Vee.  Last year we donated $400 and 25 containers of supplies – let’s make it at least 30 this year! Watch for more information soon about a special Chamber luncheon meeting at Hy-Vee on Tuesday, July 10, and, the longest running event in Chamber history – the annual steak fry which is all new this year and you won’t want to miss out on it!
August also marks the 55th year anniversary of the Chamber’s incorporation, although, according the Belton Historical Society’s Hundred Year Book, the Chamber was officially formed in 1945. We celebrated our 70 year anniversary in our newly remodeled offices in 2015. If you are a past Board Member if you could please reach out to the Chamber office we would appreciate it. We would love for you to attend the steak fry and help us celebrate the accomplishments of the Chamber and recognize your support.
The golf tournament this year simply could not have been better!  Thank you again to everyone who helped make this such a successful, fun event. We hear each year from the golfers that they really love this tournament and look forward to it each year. Hope to see you at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd next May!
Thank you – hope to see you on Historic Downtown Main Street in Olde Towne Belton! Have a great summer!

Belton History

Belton was platted in 1871.[6] The city was likely named for surveyor Capt. Marcus Lindsey Belt.[7] A post office called Belton has been in operation since 1872.[8]
