 CHAMBER NEWS
1963 – 2018
AUGUST 22
FIRST DAY OF FALL
Dear Members and Friends:
Notice anything missing??? NO emojis! I have to admit though, its only been a couple of weeks since we ended the summer of emoji fun and I miss them!  But, time to move on, we have so many great things planned for the rest of 2018 I hope you will want to participate in.
The Chamber has many members in the community we partner with including Downtown Belton Main Street, Inc.  The Chamber has a seat on their Board and we are currently working with them on fundraisers to add or replace Christmas lights and decorations on Main Street for everyone to enjoy.  We work  with the Belton School District in many areas including the Ford Next Generation Learning Academy as the Convening Organization. I am excited to be traveling to Nashville with a team of educators to learn more next week.  I sit on the Cass County Corporation for Economic Development Certified Work Ready steering committee with many other community leaders and organizations.  I am a Board Member of the Cass County Coalition of Chambers, and, we are proud to work closely with the City of Belton and Economic Development on a regular basis.
We have already enjoyed a wonderful First Friday Coffee at Carnegie Village and, what will be the first of many to come I’m sure, luncheon meetings at The Golf Club at Creekmoor. Carnegie Village went all out with a full breakfast (love that special bacon) and announced they are moving forward with an expansion in their rehab unit.  At the luncheon meeting we were proud to honor the Belton Fire Department, Belton Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s office with Certificates of Appreciation for their service and dedication.  Board President Todd Krass also presented a slate of candidates for the 2019 Executive Belton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors which will be voted on by the members at the October luncheon meeting.  Over 70 guests enjoyed the delicious Mexican buffet lunch and the view from the new event space.
We celebrated on September 14 with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in preparation for their grand opening on the 17th; we have a ribbon cutting scheduled for Advanced Family & Sports Chiropractic & Acupuncture on September 18; one for Furniture Deals on September 27 and will also join with the Raymore Chamber for a grand opening ribbon cutting at the new location for Bel-Ray Wellness; and, we will be announcing ribbon cuttings soon for more new businesses and members including Brite Car Wash and Tuscany of Belton.
Please join us for the member only, free Business Outreach Class on Thursday, September 20 which will be immediately followed by an After Hours Business Mixer, both hosted by The Country Club at Loch Lloyd.  Learn how to make the most of your Chamber membership at the class and let us know what we can do better for you.  RSVP now for both of these networking opportunities.  Chairperson Teresa Deaton has done a fabulous job lining up relevant topics and speakers all year and the last one scheduled will be on social media by Blue Door Marketing on October 18.
If you are interested in being a presenter at our annual speed networking luncheon meeting contact the Chamber office now to sign up – only 10 spots open and they go FAST!  We will be at St. Sabina’s Catholic Parish and Cracker Barrel will be catering!
Plans are coming together for our Cass County Candidate Reception and Forum at Memorial Station on October 24 – watch for more information very soon. Belton has 4 issues on the ballot including 3 changes to the City Charter and a half cent sales tax.
Our Holiday Extravaganza is over half sold out! This is always a fun community event with lots of great shopping and the Chamber commits to making a generous donation again this year to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund from the net proceeds.  Get your bowling ball and shoes dusted off for the ever popular Turkey Bowl chaired by Karen Fletcher at Aaron’s Family Fun Center. This event 100% funds our scholarships to Belton High School graduates.
Please feel free to stop by the Chamber office the next time you are on Main Street – we love visitors. Thanks and happy fall y’all!
